ABSTRACT

This issue of SJP is dedicated to collecting different perspectives on fossils and paleontological sites from the heritage point of view. The paleontological heritage includes those outcrops and fossils witch a cultural value, either scientific, educational or recreational. As such, the paleontological heritage has some specific features, among which stand out the fact of being constituted both by movable elements (fossils) and immovable elements (outcrops), and the great attractiveness that fossils exert among the general public, a quality that is partly responsible for the high risk of degradation due to looting. This volume contains 16 articles that deal with aspects related to the vision of fossils as part of the natural and cultural heritage.

Key words: Palaeontological Heritage, legislation, methodology, museums, Spain.
