JOURNAL INFORMATION
Aims and Scopes
Spanish Journal of Palaeontology (SJP) is an international journal publishing original research contribution concerning all aspects of palaeontology including systematics, biostratigraphy, palaeogeography, palaeoecology, palaeoclimatology and related fields. The journal particularly aims to promote palaeontological research by approaching the latest investigations to the global scientific community. The SJP publishes two issues per year (June and December), but also accepts special volumes on any research topic related with Palaeontology, after a positive response from the editorial team.
First language of the journal is English. Papers in Spanish can be eventually considered if they provide an extensive summary in English for the online version highlighting the main results of the research.
An international editorial team, as well as guest editors, guarantee that all contributions are peer-reviewed and meet the highest standards. We would like to highlight, that as a non-profit making journal, our people (including reviewers and members of the editorial board), receive no payment for their work. For that reason, we are deeply grateful to all those researchers who give their time and effort to review on behalf of the Spanish Journal of Palaeontology. You can see a list of them here.
We take publishing Ethics Statements very seriously and accept our responsibility to maintain the integrity of the scientific record as much as possible. This policy should be read in conjunction with our Guide for Authors, but read aso the SEP Privacy Policy and Legal Notice.
Advantages of publishing in SJP
All papers are subject to international peer review by pairs within three to four weeks, being their acceptance based on quality alone. We have the compromise with the authors to provide paper proofs of their contributions within the next two weeks after final acceptance. In addition, SJP is published as an international fully Open Access peer-reviewed journal, accepting colour pages and unlimited space for authors free of charge.

Spanish Journal of Palaeontology is indexed at international databases, including Biological Abstracts, Fuente Academica Plus, BIOSIS Previews, Scopus, Zoological Record, Latindex and SCImago Journal Rank among others. Contents of current issues are available at this webpage and through digital repositories and portals: Web of Science, EBSCO, Dialnet, Dulcinea, Miar, Sherpa Romeo and DOAJ.
